Isle of Skye Portfolio 2
Isle of Skye Photography: Stunning Photography and Prints
In contrast to my main Isle of Skye Gallery, this second Isle of Skye gallery contains a selection of my landscape photographs of Skye taken since I switched to exclusive digital photography. In the interveneing years since I made the transition you will see that I have developed my style over the years, with thanks to Bruce Percy and others for their focus on the importance of tonality in both the composition of a photo and in the final editing. I hope you will enjoy this portfolio as it develops. Having had the privelage of running a succesful landscape photographic gallery in Portree you get a good feel for the kind of photographs that people would like you to take for them, compared to the photograohs I like to take for myself. I think the Skye portfolios are intended to reflect that eclectic mix of me and others. My other galleries are probably more a reflection of my own perspective
Since the early days of taking landscape photographs on Skye, I have found it helpful to split the Island into its key five areas to explore and take my photographs, namely Duirinish, Waternish, Trotternish, Miniginish and Sleat Within these areas are to be found the key iconic Skye sites which are so attractive to tourists today, including the Quirang, The Storr, The Fairy Pools, Brothers Point, The Fairy Glen and Bridge, Neist Point, the Coral Beach, the Cuillin Ridge, MacLeod’s Tables and beyond into more unfamiliar Skye territory.
My landscape photographic prints of the Isle of Skye’s iconic locations are referred to as fine art Giclee prints are printed on photo rag paper and canvas, in my Print Room in Portree, using an Epson Surecolor 12 pigment ink printer. From 2010-2023 I sold many thousands of my prints in various media and framed and unframed formats from An t-Eilean gallery in Portree (now An t-Eilean Print Room) and also online from my web site, and over the years I have built up a loyal following for my photographs, both locally and internationally.
